ERP Project Definition
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project is more than a simple installation and implementation of new mission-critical systems and software for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The project will provide and facilitate the following:
- a new integrated software solution designed around improved business practice and workflow process
- a complete new hardware platform
- vendor provided implementation, integration and training services
The ERP software solution will include the following primary modules/components: student, financial aid, finance, human resources, advancement, enterprise data warehouse, reporting and analytics, workflow, document management, and student, faculty, and staff portal. Implementation services will include: external project planning and management, technical services, business process analysis, data migration and conversion services, integration services, database management services, and system/end-user training.
The current mission-critical systems at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette vary in age, functionality, and ability to adapt to new functional requirements significantly. The current Student system (SCT ISIS) was originally implemented in 1988 and is operated on hardware that is in desperate need of an upgrade. Our business systems (accounting, human resources, payroll, and cash management) were originally developed in-house in 1977 and were refreshed/updated in 1988. With the current changes in admission criteria, financial aid, state and federal reporting, and the strategic importance for the institution to increase operational efficiency and provide self-service options for our constituents, makes this project one of the top strategic priorities of the University.
Due to the strategic and tactical importance of this project, the University will set aside and utilize the necessary self-generated funds to insure a successful completion of the project. The lack of dedicated direct appropriations will not influence the timing, scope, requirements and objectives of the project.
