This service facilitates the request and setup of a new VPN/FortiClient account, providing users with secure remote access to our internal network resources. By utilizing FortiClient VPN, you can securely connect to company applications, files, and systems from anywhere with an internet connection, ensuring business continuity and flexibility for remote work.

Key Features of the Service

  • Account Provisioning: We will create a unique VPN account for you, linked to your ULID.
  • FortiClient Software Access:
    • University owned computers should have the VPN client preinstalled and configured.  If not, it is available in Software Center or Company Portal.
    • If you have a personal computer that you will be using remote, we provide instructions and links to download the official FortiClient software compatible with your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android).
  • Configuration Guidance: We will provide the necessary VPN connection details, such as:
    • VPN server address/IP
    • Authentication method (e.g., username/password, multi-factor authentication (MFA) instructions)
    • Any specific group or realm information
  • Initial Setup Support: Our team will offer guidance on the initial installation and configuration of the FortiClient software on your device, ensuring a smooth first connection. This may include:
    • Step-by-step installation instructions.
    • Assistance with importing connection profiles.
    • Troubleshooting common initial setup hurdles.
  • Security Best Practices: We will provide information on best practices for maintaining the security of your VPN connection and protecting your credentials.
  • Documentation: You will receive clear, concise documentation outlining the VPN connection process and frequently asked questions.
