Adobe Acrobat Pro is a fully-featured PDF manager. With it, you can open, create, and edit documents in PDF format.
Many people will find that they can work with PDFs using only free tools, although some advanced features can only be found in Adobe Acrobat Pro. See our Working with PDFs Comparison Table before purchasing Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Request an Acrobat Pro License
Please work with your department to request a quote from our Adobe Reseller on your behalf. Once a license has procured for you please submit request to have the software installed onto your University-provided computer.
Please see our Adobe Licensing FAQ article for answers to specific licensing questions.
Eligibility
Adobe Acrobat Pro individual (Named-User) licensing is available on a yearly subscription basis for active University employees, including student employees, who have a University business need for the software. Adobe Acrobat Pro is licensed on an individual (Named-User) basis. These licenses remain valid for as long as the license holder remains an employee or until a department requests that the license be canceled. The annual fee on a per-user basis for this access is the responsibility of the employee's department.
Acrobat Pro is also included with a Named-User license for the Creative Cloud All Apps Plan. University personnel with a Named-User license for the Creative Cloud All Apps Plan do not need an additional Acrobat Pro license. For more information about the full Adobe Creative Cloud license, please see our Creative Cloud Licensing article.
Students are not covered by Acrobat Pro Named-User licensing, and may not receive individual access rights to the software.
Download and Install
You will receive confirmation and welcome notice from Adobe. The message from Adobe will include an embedded link to activate your account. When you follow that embedded link, please sign in with your ulid@louisiana.edu email address. If asked to choose an account, choose Company or School Account, then sign in using your ULID and password.
Install on a University-owned Computer
If you need Acrobat Pro DC installed on your University-provided computer, please submit request to have the software installed onto your University-provided computer. Most end-users do not have sufficient access rights to install Acrobat Pro DC without the assistance of IT support.
Install on a Personally-owned Computer
Your Acrobat Pro DC Named-User license allows you to install Acrobat Pro DC onto any number of computers, whether they are University-owned or are your personal property. You may have any two installations activated under your Adobe ID at a time, meaning that they will not prompt for sign-in at launch. You may have Acrobat Pro DC open on any one computer at a time. If you need to use Acrobat Pro DC on a third computer, you will be prompted to remotely sign out of other locations. To install Acrobat Pro DC onto a computer that is your personal property, you can download an installer directly from Adobe.
Previous Versions
Versions of Acrobat Pro prior to the release of Creative Cloud, such as Acrobat Pro XI or earlier, are no longer supported by Adobe, and are considered to be insecure. If you had been using Acrobat Pro XI or earlier, please upgrade to the current release at your earliest convenience.
Troubleshooting
If you receive a “License Expired” error, are prompted to start a trial license, or are prompted to purchase a license, you have most likely signed in to Adobe Acrobat with the wrong account. Please select Help -> Sign Out, then confirm that you wish to exit all Adobe services. Then, please start Acrobat Pro again and follow the instructions to Sign in to Adobe Products.
