Windows Autopilot: Configure New Computer with UL Lafayette Software and Settings

All university Windows machines now use Autopilot to enroll in the UL Lafayette domain. Please follow the steps below to set up your new computer.

  1. Connect to a Network:
    • If a wired network connection is available, connect the device to the wired network.
  2. Power On the Device
  3. Check Network Connectivity:
    • Once the device boots up, one of two things will occur depending on the state of network connectivity:
      • If the device has network connectivity, it may reboot to apply critical security updates. After the reboot, the Autopilot process will begin.
      • If the device does not have network connectivity, it will prompt you to connect to a network.
  4. Connect to the Internet:
    • Connectivity to the Internet is required.
    • If there is no network connectivity, the country/region and keyboard screens will appear. Set these settings for the network connectivity screens that follow to work properly.
    • The “Let's connect you to a network” screen will appear. Either plug the device into a wired network or select and connect to a wireless Wi-Fi network.
  5. Proceed with Autopilot:
    • Once network connectivity is established, the Next button should become available. Select Next.
    • The device may reboot to apply critical security updates (if applicable). After the reboot, the Autopilot process will begin.
  6. Sign In:
    • Once the Autopilot process begins, the Microsoft sign-in page will appear. Enter your ULID@louisiana.edu credentials and select Next to sign in. You will be prompted to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) after signing in.

  7. Enrollment Status Page:
    • After authenticating, the Enrollment Status Page will appear. This page displays progress during the provisioning process. This can take roughly 30 minutes to complete, depending on network speeds.

  8. Complete Setup:
    • Once the setup process finishes, your desktop will appear. Additional applications will continue installing in the background—please allow up to 1 hour for this to complete before shutting down your device or disconnecting from the internet. One of these applications, Company Portal, allows for self-service installation of approved applications currently available.
